Join Western Australia’s premier high school cricket program. 14 time Secondary School Champions, including the last 3. 9 time National 5 Highs Champions. Get coached by Cricket Australia accredited coaches from Years 7 through to Year 12 all with vast experience in high level sport. Student’s can be sure to get the opportunity to receive experiences they would not receive at any other school!
To apply, please send in an Expression of Interest Form along with copies of the following:
- Two most recent school reports
- Year 5 NAPLAN Report
In addition to these you may wish to also complete the following:
- A written reference from your current school (Principal, Class or PE Teacher)
- A letter by the applicant
- Any other relevant supporting documentation/information

About the Program
The Cricket Program at Kent Street is a fully Approved Specialist Program from the Department of Education and is fully endorsed and supported by WA Cricket. The school itself, opened in 1940 is one of the first secondary schools in Perth and the pioneer of specialist sports programs in WA, Kent Street offer Cricket students a challenging and rewarding program designed to provide a suitable background for students wishing to pursue a career in cricket as well as those with more of a recreational or personal interest.
The Kent Street Cricket Program has been a very successful Specialist Program since its inception in 1988. The program has produced numerous 1st Grade cricketers, state representatives and 3 Test Players (Marcus North, Luke Ronchi (NZ) & Marcus Harris). Our program is open to both male and female students, with our most notable former female students include Piepa Cleary and Chloe Ainsworth (Perth Scorchers and WA) as well as Zoe Britcliffe (WA).
Students attend our school from a range of areas across the metropolitan area as we accept students from outside the school catchment area. Country students also have the option of attending the Rotary Residential College, which is situated on the school campus and provides high quality student accommodation. The College is operated by Rotary International and enquires should be made on (08) 9470 4177.
Students are provided with first class facilities at Kent Street with four hard wicket practice nets that were recently refurbished. 6 wicket turf cricket block for school games located on Kent Street, as well as access to Harold Rossiter Reserve turf wicket for matches. Our electronic scoreboard, pool and pavilion give our students early exposure to playing at the next level with all games at Kent Street streamed online.
Girls only Cricket Program
Our ground-breaking girls only classes in our cricket program are currently exclusive to Kent Street. Girls will learn to improve their game in a fun, safe and supportive environment. With three currently contracted state players and several of our 40+ current female cricket students involved in state pathway programs. Almost all our girls are playing premier cricket on the weekends, which makes for competitive intra-class matches with the girls getting the opportunity to improve against the other best young female cricketers.

Boys Cricket Program
Our boys program will present our students with many cricketing opportunities, challenges and experiences. Being involved in our program ensures that they can go through their high school journey with like minded individuals who they will also share other classes with. In classes they will learn to improve their cricket skills, tactics, fitness, nutrition as well as learn about the history of the game, mental skills, umpiring and captaincy to name a few things.

Upper School
In upper school all of our students continue cricket by enrolling in Certificate II Course in Sport & Recreation, which they complete over the two upper school years. All students have the opportunity to select an ATAR or General/VET course pathway. Through this certificate they learn coaching, umpiring, fitness, cricket and teaching skills, which help them gain a potential career pathway in the Sport & Recreation field.
Parent Support
Our parent support network is known as SPOCK which stands for Supportive Parents of Cricket Kids. The main role of this network is to provide additional funds and resources (through fees and fundraising) as well as meeting monthly to discuss the program, assisting with school cricket events as well as providing feedback for the program to grow and prosper.
